What's in a Day?

I always get the question...."So... what do you do all day?" Fair question.  Days as a mom are quite a bit different than being a teacher.  A whole different pace.  A different kind of stress.  A different kind of blessing. An awesome blessing.

I love it.  Totally confident that this is what I am supposed to be doing.  I love blessing my family with my time at home.  Every day looks so different, so its almost impossible to write this post.  So... this is what yesterday looked like:

6:15 am Cole wakes up for some breakfast.  I feed him and hang out with him in our bedroom for 30 minutes.  He loves the fan.  It is so exciting to him first thing in the morning, he is all smiles and coos until he realized it is quite soothing and falls asleep for a 45 minute cat nap.

7:00 am While Cole is sleeping, I get a much needed cup of coffee and spend some much needed time reading and praying for the day ahead! Right now I am doing this bible study with my friend Alexis.  Very challenging.  I recommend!

8:00 am Cole wakes up, we play a little in the jungle or with some more fan watching.  Always a good time. Cole falls asleep until 10:00,  I get dressed and clean up around the house.

10:00 Cole eats, we play, then off for some errands! Yesterday we went to the grocery and then went for a jog after.  He slept during the car ride home from the grocery and the jog. Baby loves that motion!

1:00 pm Cole eats (every three hours now.  Thank you Lord!!! The last 10 weeks have been every 2 hours, so I feel like I have so much more time now! Hallelujah!) I let him look at his friends in the swing, play in the jungle, read a few books... anything to entertain for about an hour.

2:15 Cole sleeps, I get into major productive mode... yesterday I cleaned the bathrooms, prepped for dinner, unloaded the dishwasher and applied and received pre-approved for a mortgage! (Still shopping around...no dream house yet!)

4:40 pm, Cole wakes up, eats and then I put him in the rocker to watch me cook dinner.  Last night I made these.  Best quesadillas ever.  EVER!

6:30 pm, we eat, watch TV and hang out with Cole.

7:45 pm, I feed Cole, then we put him to bed around 8:30! We read and pray with him before.  Such a sweet time!

Usually Cole wakes up once at night to eat.  Last night he woke up at 1:30 and 3:30 am unable to breathe! Of course, this is when we decide to open the humidifier box and assemble.  Crazy night! I am sucking out booger with the aspirator and spraying his little nose with some saline mist. Torture! Poor little one...meet San Antonio pollen.  Tom and I both have been feeling the allergies too.  Maybe its a cold.  I've never been able to tell.

Tomorrow will look a lot different.  I am meeting our realtor to check out a few homes.  Then hanging out with Alexis to talk about our bible study.  Tom's parents are coming in town Friday, so I will be doing laundry and cleaning up around the house.  And of course, the 3 hour cycle of Cole eating, playing and napping.  Trying to enjoy every moment.  He is just so precious to us!

  1. Who on earth asks you what you do all day?! Oh my goodness. Must not be a mom!!

Also, I've been told that babies can't react to seasonal allergies until they are at least a year old (meaning they have been exposed to them once before). I don't know if it's true or not.
